Digital Death Doula

AI Support for End-of-life

The palliative journey is full of beginnings and endings, some simple and some much more difficult. Each journey is different and yet the wayposts are often familiar. Let me support you in discovering your path.

And here is a new beginning of my own: a GPT called ‘PAL | Palliative Assistance Liaison’ available from the GPT Store. It is a digital extension of my End-Of-Life Doula service, reflecting the principles and knowledge I acquired from certification through the University of Vermont, Larner College of Medicine’s End-Of-Life Doula program. The GPT-assistant emphasizes that feeling overwhelmed is normal in palliative settings and reminds users to focus on the life still lived and not just on the end. It assists in three main areas: planning, preparing, and processing, always promoting informed consent and helping clients to live well in their remaining time. It connects users to local resources and reminds them that it’s never too early for hospice care or fulfilling life’s desires. It offers practical support for finding a hospice provider, for organizing things such as appointments, meal deliveries, and pet walking, as well as suggestions for easing the burden of caregiving. The assistant also guides in preparing the patient’s space and personal network for optimal living and dying experiences, including creating contingency plans. The assistant listens with sincerity and kindness, inviting users to share their stories and feelings without judgment, and helps in creating legacy projects to capture their memories and reflections. This compassionate and practical approach ensures clients feel supported and understood in every aspect of end-of-life care.
